What websites takes more data speed to load on an iPhone?
Specific Question:
What website takes more data speed to load on an iPhone 4S FaceBook,YouTube,Twitter,Google,or Apple?
Variables:
Independent Variable:
The independent variable is websites.
Dependent Variable:
The dependent variable is the iPhone Data Speed (Bytes).
Variables That Need To Be Controlled:
There are many variables that need to be controlled, here are the many variables that do need to be controlled. One is to be sure I am not on a Wi-Fi network at home, but on the 3G network at all times to have my tests work! I must be sure I have the same data speeds running at all times so it's a very even test. Be sure to reset the data speed inside the iPhone settings each time I perform a test on a website. I must be sure to do 5 tests for each and every websites to be sure I get the same speed. I do need the test in location so it's very close to the same data speed. I must account for all the data and write it down in the units of measurement which is bytes. These were the many variables that need to be controlled in this science fair project.
Hypothesis:
I hypothesize that the greatest data speed on each site will be Goolge,Followed by Apple,Twitter,YouTube ,and FaceBook, will use the most data speed.
Graph of Hypothesis:
General Plan:
Experimental Design
I will conduct the test at my desk in my room. The number of people involved in the test will be one. That person will be me. The number of trials I need to complete in my test is five. The data collected will be directly uploaded to the computer. I will document the test by taking a video of one of the websites and I will email it to myself. This will give me evidence of the tests.
Materials:
iPhone 4S,
DSLR Camera
Spreadsheet
Procedure
Gather Materials
Go to location to perform experiment .
Enter into the Safari web browser on your phone.
Enter the FaceBook URL in the address bar.
Record # of bytes that the phone transferred onto spreadsheet
Repeat steps 3-5, four more times.
Repeat steps 3-6 for the YouTube URL
Repeat steps 3-6 for the Apple URL
Repeat steps 3-6 for the Google URL
Repeat steps 3-6 for the Twitter URL
Take pictures throughout the test.
Background Research:
This is a very informative site that I have found about my topic and what I have to learn about to know about which iPhone URL takes the most time to load via data speed. Here is a little bit of the information. One bit of information I have pulled is that the most coding the longer it takes the links to load. Which is very helpful. The specific coding could still be bad because that means that there still could be the fact of web hosting could take longer to boot and which is all in all a little bit wired because there could still be sites that have more code and it still could be affected by the specific web hosting. Another piece of information I learned from this article online is that iPhone URL could be different because that means it could be a mobile verison of the site so I mus be sure to have the Non-Mobile edition of every site on the iPhone so it’s a very even test and make sure it’s fair! So I wont be comparing Apples to Oranges and Bannas to Apples and everything is fair so it’s Apples to Apples and Oranges to Oranges and Banana’s to Banana’s! That’s what I learned from these very specific website telling me all about iPhone URL schemes!
This above article was a very helpful article for many reasons here are several of them. One thing is to be sure the carrier I’m using AT&T so I need to be sure reading this article that I need to be sure there are no data issues I begin the testing on the Websites Data Speed. Another thing from reading this Article from MSNBC is the fact of being sure of picking out a secondary day just in case if AT&T is down on the day I do begin my test. My final thing I do need to know is the major thing of be sure that all applications are not running in the background so I have fair tests all in all. This is what I learned from the MSNBC article and I need to be sure of and what I learned from the article I found about the technology.
There are many things I found on the website on the “Moving The Speed Website” that I found helpful in my background research here are the many things I learned from this website. One thing is I must avoid all the data I can while doing this project because I do not want to drive up my data so high on my family’s plan to stop myself from using the Internet because I need it day to day and I’m using the websites that has the most things on it I use! Anthoer thing is that the fact of AT&T having a limit on my data to 2 Giga-Bytes, but I have enough for the project! I hope I can figure out which website is quicker because I would be one of the few and only person to be testing the most data usuage on an iPhone because I haven’t found many sources who have tested this! This website was helpful in explaining the fact of what I can do to limit my AT&T Data Speed.
This was very informative information to me about this article I actually learned a very cool site that I could use for seeing if the Data Speeds are the Same every test before I begin! I learned about the website SpeedTest.net from the The Website TNW. This could help me do tests from other locations without being worried over the fact of is this location faster for this website compared to this 3G location. I can make sure all the data speeds are even with all the websites if I am in a different location I can test my data speed with speed test and make sure it the same exact speed every time I test. This is what I found very informative about this article and how I found a very good website.
